Scholarship Guidelines
The Tai Chi Foundation (TCF) represents the 30-plus affiliated local Tai Chi Schools in the US, UK and Europe that teach the Tai Chi curriculum, developed by Patrick Watson (student of Cheng Man-ch’ing) and preserved by TCF.
To support the network of local Schools, and to meet its not-for-profit mission, TCF awards a limited number of scholarships to those apprenticing to teach the curriculum.
Bernie Dushman Scholarship Fund
Created in memory of our fellow teacher, board member, and friend, Bernie Dushman, this Fund makes awards to support the costs for apprenticeship training at regional Tai Chi trainings presented by Tai Chi Foundation.
The Dushman Fund prioritizes applications from financially-constrained students pursuing apprentice trainings to learn to teach any curriculum level, with priority given to participants learning to teach the Beginning Level (B1-2-3) classes.
Scholarships are designed to defray some costs for tuition, travel, lodging, food.
Eligibility: Applicants must be working with one or more TCF Schools that will provide opportunities to complete the required supervised teaching following apprentice trainings.
Process: Applicants must
- review the Policies and Procedures,
- complete an Application,
- provide a Letter of Support from an established Tai Chi teacher, and
- present a Letter of Intent describing their ongoing or intended Tai Chi teaching opportunities.
