I feel you under estimate tai chi in your conclusions. After studying with Master Liu Piu in London in the 70s and taking it up again after intermittent practice over the years I am reminded of his words, that the aim of tai chi was “to see our original face, the one we had before we were born” I think we should focus on the direct experience of “Chi” and the miracle of our breath. As it helps calm the mind, it is useful in aiding mental health. the physical benefits are many, and when chi flows within the body we can feel it. I am 80 years old and i am grateful for that knowledge of inner light, both to Master Liu and to Prem Rawat, who have taught me the value of the breath.
